Consider helping us improve all of our programs by donating or volunteering.
Here are the core programs we currently offer at our shop: Build a Bike - We'll sell you the parts and help you put together your own bike - most bikes and parts start at $40.
Buy a Bike - If you can contribute cash, you can sometimes find a bike ready to ride. Stick around; we'd love to help you keep it in shape. Fix a Bike - Already have a bike? We can lend the tools & knowledge to help you keep it on the road and safe or help you upgrade it. Corvallis Bike Collective's volunteers are often at events helping make bikes road safe.
Come to the shop during our hours and we'll walk you through a safety check for your bike.
Bike Advocacy - We're interested in not just making bikes better, but also making biking better for Corvallis and Oregon State University.
Getting a bike?
The first step is to learn what size frame fits you. Then you can come look through our selection. CBC bare frames are marked with two measurements: Size - measured in centimeters from the center of the bottom bracket to the top of the top tube (or where the top tube would be on bikes with step through frames), perpendicular to the floor; and ETT - measured in centimeters from the center of the seat tube to the center of the head tube, parallel to the floor. You can get these measurements from any bicycle on which you're exceptionally comfortable, including a test ride from a bike shop. Then you can assemble your own bike from our wide array of frames and components. Future Programs & Ideas in Progress: We always have a lot of great ideas kicking around, waiting for someone to volunteer to make them a reality. Rent (Rent to Own) a Bike- When/if we have a larger library and better tracking system.
Consignment - We currently do not allow volunteers to use the co-op as consignment shop. You may resell bikes you receive from us or donate the bike to the co-op and we will fix and sell it. But we do not help you sell completed bikes. Try craigslist. Trade-for-a-bike - We currently accept donations of bikes and parts, but we do not trade or purchase bikes or parts. Maybe in the future. Pedicab building - Trailers and other resources on wheels. Wheelchair work - Maybe?
Welding & Frame Construction - Maybe? Innovative Wheeled Transportation - Maybe? Other Ideas? - We'd love to hear from you via email or at our next meeting. |
